Job Description Excellent Opportunity for a Cognos Deveoper with a well established medical supply company. This position takes lead responsibility for supporting the BI needs across all business areas. This includes the support of existing capabilities and the development of new capabilities. This position is the sole position with technical responsibility for the implementation of Cognos and includes all responsibility for ETL and appropriate functioning of the reporting tools. The BI Specialist will insure that the implementation of Cognos meets the BI needs of all departments, including Marketing, Sales, Distribution, Manufacturing and Purchasing, as well as corporate level reporting.
Required Skills Essential functions of the job: 1. Lead the development and documentation of enhancements to our BI platform. The scope includes all business groups (SmartPractice, SellSmart, SmartScrubs, etc.), as well as departments (Marketing, Sales, Print Production, Distribution, Finance, Executive, etc.). This includes use of existing resources in the data warehouse and sourcing data from other production systems, as well as requirements related to back end administration to insure BIP has timely and accurate business data. 2. Design, build and maintain a data warehouse using Cognos DecisionStream ETL software. Work collaboratively with the IT team, most notably the DBA and others on the high-level design of key data structures to achieve maximum data availability and system performance. 3. Construct and manage a presentation layer of data in Cognos Framework Manager, using best practices in data modeling to minimize complexity of report authoring. Design, build and maintain OLAP cubes using Cognos ReportNet. 4. Manage functionality and content of the BI system containing reports, ad hoc queries and OLAP cubes in Cognos ReportNet. 5. Work closely with end users to support their use of Report Studio and PowerPlay as they maximize the use of the Cognos tools for their teams and departments. Provide technical leadership to company analysts. Train end-users in ReportNet and PowerPlay. 6. Make recommendations as needed for purchase of additional products and services to maximize business utilization of our BI resources. 7. Lead the training and subsequent development (mentoring) of all personnel who share responsibility for effective administration, support and use of Cognos.
